Reflections
April Theme Assignment
Our first Oak City Clicks photography theme is Reflections—a creative and eye-catching subject! Here are some tips to help you snap the perfect reflection shot using just your phone:
Find a Smooth Surface – Water, glass, polished floors, and even shiny metal can create striking reflections. Look for puddles, lakes, or storefront windows.
Shoot from a Low Angle – Getting close to the reflective surface can maximize the impact of the reflection and create a more dramatic composition.
Use Symmetry – Frame your shot so that the reflection and real subject create a balanced, mirror-like effect.
Look for Interesting Light – Sunrise and sunset can create warm, glowing reflections, while neon signs or city lights add a vibrant touch.
Tap to Focus on the Reflection – Your phone’s camera might automatically focus on the main subject, so be sure to tap the reflection to keep it sharp.
Experiment with Distortion – Moving water, ripples, and even curved reflective surfaces can add an artistic and abstract twist to your shot.
Flip the Composition – Try framing your shot so the reflection is dominant, making the viewer question which side is "real."
Use Leading Lines – Reflections in roads, canals, or long windows can help draw the eye through the scene for a stronger composition.
Play with Shadows & Silhouettes – Reflections don’t always have to be crisp; sometimes, an abstract or shadowy effect can be even more intriguing.
Keep Your Lens Clean – Smudges or dirt can ruin a crisp reflection, so wipe your phone’s camera lens before shooting.
Get creative, have fun, and let’s see those reflections shine! 🌊📸✨
